Myanmar sets election 20 years after

Myanmar, also knowns as Burma, which has been under military rule since 1962 sets election in November 07, 2010, 20 years after the last election in 1990. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi who was under house arrest since 1989 won in that 1990 election but the military-junta refused to recognize the results. The ongoing detention of Aung San Suu Kyi was extended up to November 2010 and she was barred from participating in the upcoming national elections.
